Alloa Athletic netted twice in the first half to win through to the Second Round of the Bells Scottish Challenge Cup at the expense of Third Division side Elgin City.
Despite going behind to Ferguson's 12th minute opener, the visitors put up a plucky display, but a second goal for Alloa five minutes before half-time from Hamilton effectively ended their interest in the competition.
